Emergency Water Removal
Standing water right now? Here’s what to do — and what we do when we arrive.

Before Help Arrives
- Stop the source if you safely can — Shut the main water valve for plumbing failures. For weather flooding, wait — don’t fight incoming water.
- Kill power to affected areas — only if safe — If water is near outlets or the panel is dry-accessible, shut off circuits to the wet rooms. Never stand in water to do it.
- Move what matters — Get valuables, electronics, and furniture legs out of the water. Foil or blocks under furniture prevent staining.
- Don’t run the shop vac into deep water — Small puddles, fine. Inches of standing water need extraction equipment.
Why Standing Water Is Urgent
It keeps traveling
Water follows gravity and capillary action into subfloors, wall cavities, and adjacent rooms while it sits.
Mold clock starts
Mold growth can begin in damp materials within roughly 24–48 hours — before anything looks moldy.
Materials fail
Swollen wood, delaminated flooring, sagging drywall — damage that drying can no longer reverse.
Call First, Then Document
